What Makes BFA Different?
A New kind of educational environment

Training is so much more than "the 3 Rs" (reading, writing, 'rithmetic). Bright Futures Academy brings this knowledge front and center with the educational environment they provide to the hundreds of students who walk the hallways. Many of these children are orphans; many have experienced incredible hardships. Not only does BFA provide for practical needs and ensures that students follow the Kenyan curriculum to stay on track, but these teachers and leadership also ensure that each child is treated with respect and dignity. When caning and shame are common in East Africa, the staff at BFA treat each child as the Image Bearers they are. This is challenging, counter-cultural work, but our amazing team is leaning in.
Another challenge is that BFA competes with highly-coveted government teaching jobs. It's vital for the stability and vibrancy of our classrooms to be able to retain our specially-trained teachers and support staff with reliable salaries and benefits. Donors providing these funds are impacting an entire community by sustaining these teachers who are setting an example of strength and respect. It truly takes a village!
